About me

Lauren Richards Neurodiversity coach in her garden

Hello,

I’m Lauren Richards, a specialist ADHD and AuDHD coach, lecturer, and qualified (non-practising) psychotherapist with over 25 years of experience in psychology, education, and mental health.

Accredited by the European Mentoring and Coaching Council, I offer neurodiversity-affirming coaching for adults and teens, alongside workshops for schools, parents, and organisations.

As someone who is AuDHD myself, I understand firsthand the strengths and challenges that can come with navigating a world not always designed for neurodivergent minds. My lived experience, combined with professional expertise, allows me to create a supportive, validating space where clients feel understood, accepted and empowered.

I specialise in working with ADHD and AuDHD adults and teens, supporting clients to better understand how their brains work and develop practical, sustainable strategies that improve wellbeing, confidence, emotional regulation, motivation, relationships and daily life. Many of the adults I work with are navigating burnout, overwhelm, identity, masking, self-esteem difficulties, or a recent diagnosis, and are looking for a more compassionate and effective way forward.

My background combines psychology, psychotherapy, coaching and education. After completing a degree in Psychology and Organisational Psychology at the University of Cape Town, I spent 13 years teaching Psychology at A-level before progressing to university lecturing and course development in psychology and human behaviour. Alongside this, I completed postgraduate training in Human Givens Psychotherapy and later earned a Master’s degree in Applied Positive Psychology and Coaching Psychology with distinction.

My experience across both education and mental health enables me to tailor coaching to the unique needs of each individual. For adults, this may involve developing strategies around executive functioning, emotional regulation, work-life balance, relationships, or neurodivergent identity. For teens, I design engaging, supportive coaching sessions that combine evidence-based psychological approaches with practical tools and tailored resources to help embed learning beyond sessions.

My approach is compassionate, collaborative and strengths-based, grounded in both science and lived experience. I aim to help clients move away from shame and self-criticism toward greater self-understanding, self-acceptance, and confidence in who they are.

I regularly attend training, engage with emerging research and participate in professional supervision to ensure my work remains informed, ethical, and effective.

If you’d like to find out more about coaching or workshops, I’d love to hear from you.
